The tale tells of Edwin, who returns home from the 'Lowlands Low' with a fortune in gold and calls on his true love, Emma. She tells him to stay the night at her parents' public house and she will visit him in the morning. The tale then takes a turn for the worse as, unfortunately, he is murdered by her cruel parents and Emma goes mad and ends up in Bedlam.
